ParticipantHas anyone got any experience of this or is it just a matter of:
Removing the gasket from the outer cabinet around the door opening. (dont know how but usually there is some kind of spring that holds it in place)
Removing the screws that hold the door interlocking catch.
Remove screws that hold front cover and then remove cover
Then remove the part of the gasket that connects to the outer drum.(dont know how )I have no experience of doing this on any machine this is just what I have gained from this and other forums. I would appreciate confirmation of the above of exact instructions.

KeymasterHi Matt,
For legal reasons we’re not allowed to give you exact instructions, something about getting sued if you maim yourself in the process of attempting the repair, blame Brussels.
What I can tell you is that the Smeg WD gasket is not a straight forward two minute job and if you’re unsure I’d advise a professional does it for you.
But you’re on the right track.

I had a trail run yesterday to see if I could do it, and all seems straight forward just got to wait for the part to come from smeg now. What part of the process did you feel wasnt straight forward?

KeymasterNothing in particular, I haven’t done one of those as yet but I did look through a tech bulletin on it (amongst other things on that machine ) and it just didn’t look the easiest to be changing. Or at least the way Smeg described it.

Now your got me think with your “(amongst other things on that machine )” comment, I have had to replace the main programme selector knob but nothing else so far and Ive had it about two years, this “fault” I caused but what other failures should I look out for?
ps part not arrived yet.

KeymasterBasically it’s all about instability on wooden floors, reads like War & Peace. 🙄
