My wife accidently spilled around a pint of water over the top/front of the machine today and the display went off and the push button controls stopped responding. The machine was mid cycle and completed this wash without any problem, but with the buttons/display now not working the machine appears to be dead.
I took the top off to take a look and there was very little (if any) water that had got inside the machine, literally just a few drops on the inside cover over the disply/control PCB. Is it likely that this small amount of water could kill the PCB or is it more likely that there is a fuse that may have blown. The cover only seems to be held on with 4 screws so it should be easy to investigate further.
On a separate note, for a machine that is designed to go under a worktop and therefore be at risk from the odd spillage, I’m amazed that there is no seal to prevent ingress of water in this way. If/when the machine is fixed I will stick a strip of duct tape over the joint between the front and top of the machine unless anyone has a better suggestion.
