I went out to the above appliance yesteday and the customer was saying that the machine kept blowing the mains trip on a wash cycle after it had been on for about five minutes. I thought that it was probably the Element so a check on that for Insulation showed no fault. I then checked the motor and again nothing odd there.

After this I ran the machine and after the machine filled on either a 40 or 60c wash the display showed E11 as a fault code which is Motor Triac Circuit or Module PCB fault.

I then removed the module and found two blown tracks on two of the motor connections which went to the Motor Tacho. I then removed the motor from the machine and had a good look at the Armature and that along with the carbons looks ok.

So are these modules known for this type of fault or would the motor be suspect as causing this blown tracking ?

Connect are showing two modules for this appliance one that comes with a timer ? does anyone know why it comes with a timer ?

Any Help appreciated as I was thinking of quoting for a motor and module as I don;t want to blow a brand new module.

Re: Smeg WMI16 AAA Module Question

If that one has a base on it, check the dangling motor wires have not worn their insulation away on the base plate, had it a few times for blowing trip faults. Not sure that will be your problem though.

this is from the parts manual:
2 codes for the speed control module – 696290787 has been built till the 12/02/04,
    696290802 from the 13/02/04 on,
to get the right code you have to know the serial number

    Hi,

Yeah this is the one with the base plate and the only wires that were dangling were the two red wires that go to the float switch, they looked ok.

I have the serial number and will check it out. Thanks
