We have a tall Liebherr larder fridge, model no 4260, which is about 2 years old. A few weeks ago we noticed a rancid smell in the utility room, and eventually traced it to the fridge. What happened is that water was collecting in the ‘drip tray’ at the back of the fridge, but not evaporating. Anyway, we cleaned it all out – (we could have done with a gas mask, the smell was soooo bad), and made sure the drainage hole inside the fridge wasn’t blocked. However, this has happened again, and water is still collecting in the drip bowl. I’ve put a call in the Service Dept at Leibherr, but they were trying to tell me that it was possibly the ‘ambient air’ in the utility room that was causing the problem as we have a tumble drier in there. The drier isn’t on all the time and the room is well ventilated. Could this be so? What else could be causing this problem? It really stinks! 😥
