Had to put this on here…
Went out to repair a cooker hood for a manufacturer that use me, I wont mention the name but they are VERY high quality and expencive.
Got to the job, went through the electric gate, the cleaner told me she was in and they called her to tell her I had arrived.
Was guided towards the cooker hood which was situated over a Falcon range cooker. The cooker hood needed a motor so I thought it a good idea to ask her for a dust sheet incase anything dropped down. She made a remark about how bad she thought it was that ‘they dont send you out with a dust sheet’…. I replied that I work for myself so no management are involved and i rarely require one.. She placed about 20 t-towells on top of the range cooker.
She Asked me to be very carefull with the floor tiles and not to place any tools on the grannite work surfaces as they scratch very easy. I replied, “mine are really good for resisting scratches although we don’t chop veg on them…” I dont think she liked that much though…
I decided the best thing would be to simply remove the canopy hood and take it outside to avoid any possibility of damage to the kitchen. I informed her of my plan and she said, let me take you through the back way to the outside, I said, it’s ok, I dont mind going back through the front, she said “No, I want you to go this way!!!” it was via the garage.
I said “this will be better, I cant harm anything in the kitchen” she replied “Hrmm ok, but dont put your tools and things on the flag stones, we have just had them laid and I dont want them marking…..
EHHH? WTF is wrong with people? Mended it, put it back then she asked me if I wanted a coffee. I politley declined her kind offer as I feared she might have made it for me in the dog bowl.

Materialistic, springs to mind ! whats wrong with these people ?
I had a guy the other day who when I arrived at his front door advised me that I would have to remove my shoes as he had a pure white carpet throughout the ground floor. I then advised him that whilst I would do as he requested once in the kitchen my shoes would be put on as if he wanted me to work on his appliance that would then become a health & safety issue.Some folks have lost the plot !

I thought for a moment that the title of this thread was “Snobby Celts” to which I was about to take lots of offence. Well, actually I wasn’t as we’ve got some snobby gits too.
In fact, at times I think we have more than our fair share. Most of them can only afford a Wimpey house though. 😕

I hate the fact that kitchens have become status symbols.
There meant to be places of work and so get messy.
One thing though, large houses arn`t always a sign of wealth, they usually mean the client has a good business and on the back of that has a huge mortgage and debts.
So they probably can`t afford the running costs. :rolls:
I work/ed for top end clients, now though I find John Lewis clients worse.
Only yesterday I got balled out from one about her Fridge bottle rack breakin. :rolls:
Her response “I thought buying John Lewis products means there extremely good quality”.
No buying John Lewis means that the chinese built rubbish is more expensive 😆
Also cookers, why when clients don`t clean them do they believe “there not fit for purpose”. :rolls:
Most of the time I find it difficult to agree, especially when were meant to be understanding, i have to supress my Victor Meldrew response to there pointless lives.
One day though I shall get images of children suffering from all kinds of hearship around the world and start to show clients how to put there life and the lives of others into perspective

I actually feel sorry for people who are that materialistic, worshiping their posessions like gods :rolls: I mean we all like to get nice things once in a while, but as lee8 said, kitchens are designed to be USED! whats the bloody point in getting it if you dont?

Definetely un posh ,I go to some farms where the parent stock of breeding pigs for the industry are kept.
To enter you dis robe,go through a shower and then put clothes on that they supply.
No food or drinks are allowd in it’s all tinned and on site for the staff.
Makes the NHS look proper grubby,”pigs in sh!t” hardly.
An electrician friend had 6 showers in one day,each time you want stuff out your van you have to reverse the procedure and shower again on entry.

r.e orig post … i take my hat off to you if you are removing canopy island hoods to repair them yourself..
when i get some arsy ponced up whatsit wi stuff like this i advise them to have it removed by installer to avoid damage etc to their showpeice kitchen.. this normally does the trick.

We have all had em 😥 Once had a tart ask me to take off me boots and put a pair of slippers on before I went into the house, I asked if they were steel toe capped 😥 then told her I rather keeps my boots on as they were cleaner than my socks :rolls: sense of humour failure with that one.
I have customers with titles who are real gentlemen and ladies, even had a cup of coffee made for me by a Lord.
The real pain in the ars8s are the so called middle class that have got themselves there through fair means or foul, usually the latter, Merc in the driveway and nowt in the fridge :rolls: oh and don’t forget the blond gold digger if you need to see a right bit8hRe: Snobby Geits!!!
