I did all mine yesterday all over the south in my trusty little van.
Only lost grip on country ungritted roads a few times.

    Re: snowed in !!!

We are snowed off on Kent today conditions unworkable , radio station interviewed leader of front line services last night who reckoned that gritters had been out all day yesterday ! I was on the road seven hours yesterday and did not see one single gritter working, it’s a fact that councils have not bought enough salt this year trying to save money, now the elements have caught them out and they have been operating rationing of the salt and cannot get enough as all local councils want salt now. Goverment to make a statement about the salt today, when did a goverment ever do that !!!!!
It’s a complete farce, having lived in Germany and seen real bad conditions everything worked there, trains, roads and businesses working normally.

Yes, Bulgaria gets a lot of snow but even a poor country like that has much better systems for keeping the roads open than we have here. Snow is simply not accepted as an excuse for not getting to work.

We had a guy in from Norway yesterday and he thought the place was a complete joke and that the Brits are a disorganised weak nation when it comes to the weather !

That is because we are not used to it. Normally they have winter tyres, and studs or chains are mandatory in most Scandinavian states.

Hope you told him we were pretty good at chasing invaders out of his country in 1945.

    Re: snowed in !!!

every says the main roads are fine, true but I am getting stuck in any side road (where the majority of our customers are) with even the slightest incline. Gave up yesterday lunchtime after lugging my tool bag up too many hills with absolutley no thanks or surprise from the customer involved. Now we have drifting snow here and parts that were clear earlier are now blocked even though it has not snowed

If the snow was a regular occurence then studded tyres would be a must,I have relatives in Switzerland and they have to fit them by law sometime in November.

You should have stuck at it Bryan!

First call Barton-le-Clay at 7.00am. Five Luton calls after that. And one in Clophill to finish.

I found today safer than yesterday!
