ParticipantI’ve been out to a newish Aqualtis Hotpoint washing machine today. It won’t drain, easy enough job you all think. I know all about draining it manually and not tipping it back, i’ve been to a few successfully over the years.
With this one the filter is completely blocked and won’t come out. The filter is so blocked that it won’t syphon though the hose.
I take the lid off and disconnect the pressure hose before I do anything, then tip back a little, lower the pump into washing up bowl and remove sump to pump hose.
5 minutes later all is well and the pump is unblocked.
I still get the machine wanting to drain constantly even when the pipe is reconnected. I’ve tried all the tricks with the litre of water and drain position. Nothing helps, another PCB needing to be reset. How else could I have done this without it knackering the machine. If the drain hose will not syphon and the filter cannot be removed, what else can I do?
I am seriously beginning to hate these machines.I’ve had a really bad day and this has just been the last straw. ARRGGHHH

Can’t say I have had one that pumps all the time, did have one yesterday where the customer had fitted a new pump and then the machine would not drain.
No amount of trying the reset procedure worked so referred him back to Hotpoint. Over the past few years I have ceased to be amazed at the failures of Indesit electronics but this has to be one of the daftest set ups ever. :rolls:

When I say it pumps all the time, I mean it pumps until it eventually switches off and faults again. Just doesn’t refill. That’s exactly what I’ve told them. Give hotpoint a call!!!!
I’ll be honest, I’ve never managed to get the rest procedure to work. Luckily I’ve only come across 2 or 3 that have needed it. All the rest I could drain by syphoning.
Bloody ridiculous for such a simple fault!!!!!October 16, 2015 at 8:55 pm #431041tash

I’ve had this before ..I once had to do the reset procedure 6 times before it worked .. ie adding water manually ..one was a hotpoint job.. tried everything including new pressure switch.. very frustrating

I tried out of desperation for about an hour, all different combinations. i would love to know what the hotpoint engineers are told to do when you can’t syphon the water out.

Had the same problem 2 colour catchers stuck in the filter m/c would not drain ended up sending the board to emw to get it re-programmed. I tried all the reset procedures and got nowhere so how do you drain these bl….. m/cs

you would think if the machine is on and trying to drain if the the pressure switch is disconnected then it wouldn’t know the difference between draining and pressure switch being disconnected .. if that makes sense
