I’m just about to tell someone that soap suds are detrimental to good wash results and only added for the benefit of customers who don’t believe a detergent can wash properly if they can’t see any. Am I right or am I getting mixed up with cold water detergents?

They’re no detrimental to my knowledge but, IIRC, there are foaming agents in there to produce the foam. I was told that this was so as to allow people to believe that there was washing action going on as, without the foam, they didn’t believe that it was washing.

    Hope that’s clear. 😕

Clear as freshly washed underpants 🙂

I understood that the suds can reduce the effect of the laundry rubbing against each other by creating a soft film of foam and a cushioning effect. I believe this is only the case when oversudsing occurs but the principle is that they don’t aid cleaning and can hinder it.
