ParticipantI was buying some new appliances from a well known trade supplier. I gets on well with the staff there and every now and then have a pi£$take out of each other. They are great guys.
One of the usual guy who loaded the appliances onto my van, we were chatting about Amica. He says he wouldn’t touch it let alone try sell it not even with two years guarantee.
I find that is rather worrying as I am in the process of signing up the contract with Amica to be their service agent. If this trade supplier who is local to my area who is unwilling to sell Amica products to the public, this would potentially harm my prospect of getting additional work. Am I just dealing with one staff with a bad apple and the rest of them are just fine?
What are other engineers views on Amica products? I am not looking for trouble, just wanted to be sure what I am letting myself into.

I have got a couple of hundred in the field of all types and not had problems with them other than the usual run of the mill stuff.
They are what they are. If you want the all singing super latest machine guaranteed to last 10 years spend the money on ISE units or Miele.
It’s all horses for courses.
After sales back up is fantastic as far as my experience to date has been so for the money I can’t fault them

We are service agents for amica, we also sell the products at low volumes, i have never had any problems with the dishwashers or freestanding ovens, admittedly we have had a few issues with the AWCT machines with the front weights breaking off, the newer machines dont have the same design and so far i have not had many problems, the service back up is very good, parts are sent out quickly and i have never had any late payments for the warranty work i have carried out. Like i said i am speaking as i find we only do low volumes of sales and warranty repairs but i have no problem at all with amica.

Maybe the problems your supplier has experienced are because of a lack of service agents in your area ?
If you, yourself become a service agent it would be benificial to both you and your supplier.Allan.

You get these sort of comments thrown about. I get them from the delivery drivers. The comment was probably born from the same logic when customers say they won’t buy a certain make because 20 years ago they had a troublesome one.

I too have had no problems with Amica Appliances – the only few call outs we get to these Washing Machines – are not draining, due to blockages in the Pump or filter.

Glen dimplex lost or dint attempt to renew the repair contract they had with Amica. From what I have been told, they had a lot of issues getting oddball parts.

The figures from the data would suggest a slightly different version of events.
