Martin this is from your own posting in the tips and tricks postings last year.
Before pulling the machine out mark carefully the position of the top fixing plates to ensure you refit in same location.

Reminds of the saying “Those that cannot, teach those that can”.
Only joking. š

I wouldn’t have taken your comment any other way Lee so no worries there. But do please take note of the fact that suffice to say I’ve been dealing with integrated appliances long before many here on UKW were wetting their nappies. I know all the ins and outs, ups and down’s and in this instant the only solution to her problem would be to remove the side drawer unit to allow the feed pipes between the tight gap and the wall. However the dickheads that fitted the drawer unit glued it in place (marble worktop above) and so I could not move it without causing damage. Therefore I considered a 5mm gap at the top an acceptable compromise to an otherwise impossible situation…OK?
Just reminding myself of the job right now brings back painful memories however I can sleep easy in the certain knowledge that I did my best given the extraneous circumstances…. š

We live in a world with people who have a wealth of knowledge, not really its a world that people believe they posses more than they actually do and then make judgements based on that lack of knowledge.
Their are many experts, we don’t have to put up with them, for me wasting an hour trying to solve the impossible would indicate it was possible to resolve, spend so much time only then to argue its impossible is, for me, daft.
Its made harder by the fact the unit was fine for such a long period, and after all in the clients eyes if the fitter managed it why didn’t you.
But we know why, as we’ve come across this many times, so its important to remember what others have written previously, that informing of situations before or just after they occur is far more plausable than wasting time doing the impossible.
All intergrated appliances should be placed on the same tiles that we walk on, that there pipes and surrounding furniture be in good condition and accesible as per the fitting requirements, if there not then trouble is coming.

There’s a certain charm about you Lee and your way with words. I’m obliged to you for taking the time by offering such profound words of wisdom. I will strive to emulate your approach toward this type of problem in future.
Thank you!

Martin missed his vocation. Should’ve been a diplomat.

Most of my comments are tongue in cheek. :rolls:
I wasn’t aiming anything at you Martin, although I cannot help smiling at the simple solution offered by others that you failed to mention or try.
I guess like me Martin you tend to place your head too far above the parapit, which then leds to other lesser mortals to enjoy the feeding frenze of shame at our less than perfect ability.
Or we should just accept that we are not gifted,we’re just as thick as everyone else. š

Hmmmm? Perhaps a smiley or too within those tongue in cheek moments of yours in future may just help to pacify the recipient or at least aid realisation that no harm was meant?
lee8 wrote:I wasn’t aiming anything at you Martin, although I cannot help smiling at the simple solution offered by others that you failed to mention or try.
Oh spare me the rhetoric please on the first part of that sentence and on the second “Simple solution” “Failed to mention or try”….I was merely making a statement and not asking for help!

I do my work to the best of my ability and from the outset in this thread I stated that what was asked of me within the constraints of the situation I could not deliver. It wasn’t a plea for help but merely a statement of fact. A fact that perhaps, just perhaps someone here on UKW could possibly even relate to?
So yes I suppose in doing so I put my head above the parapet to some degree, if you like, but in doing so I wasn’t necessarily expecting criticism. However you chose to take that route and I am now forever mindful of your opinion. And once again I thank you for your taking the time to let me know.
You be sure and have a nice day now OK?

Martin, just to back your original post I have had over the last two weeks FOUR calls to a Diplo/ Whirlpool dishwasher that the plumber from hell fitted.
Called out for a leak, tried and tried but couldn’t get the dishwasher out. Time was getting on so went back next day.
Found that the leak wasn’t the dishwasher but coming from behind the machine and I still couldn’t get the thing out. It ended up suspended inside the carcass with all the legs about 2cm from the floor. The discovery after an hour and a lot of prizing with a big screwdriver that the left hand unit had a screw going through into the side panel. The plumber/fitter had then fitted the top brace to the carcass covering the screwhead. It took another 15 minutes to hacksaw in the gap to get through the screw. Got the machine out, drain hose was now too short to pull the machine out. Had to cut it because he’d fed it behind the units, to the far wall, put a joint in and added another hose, doubled it back along the unit to enter the sink spigot….next to the dishwasher š He’d extended the hose to about nine feet :rolls: .
The actual fault was the fill hose leaking because he’d left the tap head loose on a push fit joint, it was vibrating against the rear of the machine. Cabinet side needed a good dry out so we rebooked again.
New drain hose fitted, but noticed a lethal cut away at the top of the rHS casing which the badly positioned centre mixer tap fitted into. This proved to be an arse to get right as he’d obviously put the dishwasher in then lifted the legs for the tap fitting to slot into. š š
I’ve now got to go back again when a plumber has been, who is rejigging the tap which is loose at the push joint and hitting the back of the machine as it goes back in …..that was what caused the original fault. Obviously the kitchen unit will have to be moved as everything is well hiddenbehind it.
As I’m explaining all this to the customer he made a gesture with his hand , and ended up cutting his thumb badly on the exposed side panel.
I then tried to get the machine back in, concentration well, shot and pushed a leg through the bloody lino :eeek:And the fitter………..next door neighbours son.
Rant over š
TC
Going away next week to rest up and start on it again when I get back š .

After the initial call it becomes a challenge to see it through :rolls:
Call it a failing of mine š Still, I haven’t made the final bill out yet š
