    Re: Spam

Are the powers that be comfortable with this poster having a link to his own website in his sig as well as linking to a Fagor on what may also be a web site that he/she has direct connections with?

    Had a little dig…….

Spammers – I’m sure Jim had a post about running a list earlier? Sorry Jim, didn’t have time to take it on board properly. However, I might have a simple quick access solution. Using Ken’s link HERE and going into User Admin -> Permissions will allow you to disable all posting functions. Go back into BASIC ADMIN and put “Permissions Denied” into the url box and we can all see that the member is knobbled, whilst keeping the user name and the email address to prevent further sign ups.

If you deleted the username, he can re-register. If we just disable the account (see post above), he’s screwed.

OK – disabled it. Curious – he’d already had his email address altered, so shouldn’t have been able to post?

    Re: Spam

Another couple of the beggars since though, looks like they may be sending in their big guns, one of them I have just doctored is the Botmasterr. :rolls:

Didn’t manage to stop that one posting though, all that was in the post was about five full lines of gobbledygook based on the word spam using a mixture of letters of the alphabet plus foreign letter symbols.

Seems like they may be probing our defences. 😥

I thought all new registrations were being vetted first before being let loose. 😕

If I don’t approve the account, Dave and I think Tracey, then it will not go live.

    Let’s hope it works.

How did the Botmasterr & Esserttex manage to post a short while ago then. 😕

I’m not getting the approval emails any more for some reason, they stopped yesterday and I can’t find the settings for it … 😕

Ken is away somewhere, possibly back later today.

    Botmasterr & Esserttex accounts deleted.

    Re: Spam

I’m back, a bit tired and the worse for wear. Long story, involves Sean, a road trip, David, a bunch of machines and no room at the inn…

Anyway, the admin approval thing is knackered. 🙁

The only options, for the moment, is to disable or delete the accounts, sorry.

I hope to have some news on this whole situation next week. I promise, I am doing something about this as it’s a joke the way it is ATM.

I had already disabled them but not before they had both posted.

Chris I just got a look at what you and Jim have been doing and, I have to just say even though I’m half asleep, that is bl00dy brilliant!

Utterly superb thinking, I didn’t think of that at all.
