I think what they’re doing is trying to set up by using an image or link that doesn’t exist then make it live later and… BHAMM… forum filled with spam, loads of it all at one time.
Hence the comment, clever little f******s. π
We just need to watch for it. π

Not exactly spam, but new user Glen70 is using his avatar as advertising space while it’s not a live link it’s still advertising none the less.
Would you like me to ask him to revise his avatar?

KeymasterRe: Spam
TBH I wondered what to do with that one myself.
For the moment I don’t think it’s a particular problem although, requesting trade access in the first instance would have been more appropriate I would have thought.
I’d leave the avatar as it’s not linking and, other than showing his website if people want to type it in, not really doing any real harm.
But I think it’s worth watching the poster. π

If my memory is correct I have already deleted posts worded exactly like that from another vacuum thread a week or so ago, I considered it low level spamming then, still do TBH. I think he may have come back with a new username.
Just checked, it was someone calling himself eagervacuums last time.
In fact both Ken and I deleted posts at the same time, check the mod logs, near the bottom of the first page.
My money is on it being the same person. π

The wording of that new post is what alerted me, its virtually word for word the same as the deleted one.

He’s off on one.
I have now altered his permissions so that he can do nothing, not even view the forums.
I’ll explain more later when I get the internet back as, for now, as there’s a line fault here I’m hooked up to a 3G connection on the phone. π

Hi ken,
Can you please delete the user ‘washdoctor’ from the UK Whitegoods Forum for the following reasons:
1: I have no intention of signing in to that account or using that account again.
Then please change the password to something obscure and do not sign in again, that is completely within your remit and power to do so.
2: Other people have my Login details and have posted as me, therefore breaking UK Whitegoods Forum rules, therefore the account should be deleted.
Then you must have divulged the details of the account as we do not and cannot access your password details for security and privacy reasons, nor would we ever have call or wish to do so. Or the account details have been compromised on a local level. Therefore the only way that an account can be compromised is if the user allows others to access their account.
This is a matter for the user, not for site admin to secure local PCs, LAN, WLAN security etc as well as keep your passwords secure. In that respect we are unable to assist you further.
3: As my personal name & details are assigned to that account, I am most un comfortable with other users being able to post as ‘washdoctor’.
See above.
As the creator of the ‘washdoctor’ account and owner of the ‘washdoctor’ account, I expect that the account will be deleted immediately due to breach of UKW Rules.
Each post has the IP logged from which the post was made.
Please indicate the posts that you suspect have been made that were not by yourself and we will look at it and remove any that we feel have not been made by you as the owner of that account.
Please be aware that if the posts have been made from the same IP addresses as ones that you admit are yours then they will not be removed as it will be reasonably be assumed that they were either made by the account holder or, with the account holders consent and/or authority.
Please also send any requests pertaining to account administration to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk so that all staff can see and deal with any request in case I am unavailable to respond, as I may be in coming weeks due to prior commitments and annual leave. Doing this ensures that all staff see your emails and can deal with any requests if they are able to assist you. I have copied that email address in on this response for their information and so that you have a note of the email address should you require it.

Hi Ken,
Thank you for your reply.
We all know you can delete / remove a userβ¦!!! It’s quite a simple task! It’s my account, I have EVERY right for it to be removed / cancelled.
Thanks, Ade.

“KW: 7:22am”:1k5j7m3g wrote:Again, please use the admin email so that all members of staff can see your emails.
Your account and posts will not be deleted without some justification or grounds to do so which, as per previous email, you have failed to provide.

Adrian Welke: 7:28am wrote:As the account owner, I have every right to cancel my account with UKWhitegoods Forums.
I no longer wish to be a part of the UK Whitegoods Forums and therefore want my account removed.
Another refusal to delete my account will result in a complaint to the relevant people regarding this matter.

Response….
KW: 7:42am wrote:I line with the previous emails the account in question will not be deleted unless satisfactory evidence is provided for the claims being made by you to justify the action.
We also have every right to maintain the integrity of the forums and the threads that have been posted by users and the policy has always been made clear that posts made on the forums will not be deleted. This has been the policy of the website since its inception in 2003. If you have not made yourself familiar with site policy in this regard before posting then I am sorry but that is your affair.
We can change the account so that the ability for it to be used in the future is removed, please advise if you would like that done.
Regards
Then the next one rolls in…
Adrian Welke: 7:54am wrote:The grounds for my request to cancel my account are as follows:
1. I am the account owner and I no longer wish to be a member of UK Whitegoods Forums.
2. As I have always posted openly (Real name etc), there are posts within the UK Whitegoods Forums that I am the author of and I no longer have the freedom or right to edit or delete any posts I’ve made previously.
These posts that I have composed, may be copied, quoted and comments made about them by others whilst I cannot reply or correct due to me leaving the community as I do not have the freedom to post openly. This means there is a likelihood that threads I’ve participated in and posts I have made could be used against me and ultimately cause damage to my reputation (As per an email received last night). Please confirm to me when my account is deleted / cancelled. Again, if you refuse to delete my account, I will formally complain about UK Whitegoods Forums to the relevant people.
Kind Regards,
Ade.
Response, getting shorter as I get (more) bored of it…
KW: 8:07am wrote:Our position has been made clear, I see no reason for any further communication on this matter.
Please take the matter up with whomever you see fit.
Look, it’s like an episode of 24, you get running real time updates and everything, mystery, intrigue, a mad bad guy…. π
But look at the original reason for wanting the account deleted, claims that it’s been compromised etc and, without any prompting whatsoever, it’s become that there’s things posted by him (he says so) that he wants deleted.
Anyway, he can go complain to the internet police or whoever and they can listen to his sh1t.

kwatt wrote:Next round…
In plain English:
PLEASE REMOVE MY ACCOUNT AND MY PERSONAL DETAILS FROM YOUR WEBSITE AS I NO LONGER WISH TO BE A UKWHITEGOODS MEMBER.
What is your procedure for spammers?
Don’t they get deleted as a user?
Ade π
No response has been sent.
He then posted a load of spam to try to get his account deleted. All that was removed and was held in moderation anyway so it was completely pointless.
In response, I have removed his ability to post, PM and even view any of the forums under that account and changed the account name to “AdrianWelke” so that there is no dubiety about who it is. Profile updated to reflect that he has been banned for abusive behaviour.
This and above will be posted in the mods forum so they know what the hell is going on.
K.
His account has now been completely neutered and he cannot do anything at all, he can’t even view the forums under that account.

So you all know what went off as may not be aware of this…
Adrian Welke: 16:23 wrote:It has been brought to my attention (Screenshot) that you have named an account ‘AdrianWelke’ and assigned that user to posts I have made under an anonymous username, washdoctor.
I have never opened an account with UKW using my real name nor have I ever posted under my real name and I demand that you rename that account as you doing this will cause me personal grievances and possible loss of work & respect amongst fellow colleagues.
Failure to do so instantly will result in immediate legal action, and I mean immediate.
Adrian Welke.
Response sent was as follows…
kwatt: 16:55 wrote:I am now on holiday until the 9th July and will deal with your request if time allows upon my return.
Which will be, I probably won’t bother as it’s not worth wasting my time on given your continual contradiction of yourself, your abusive tone, constant harassment of myself and other forum members as well as your continual confrontational attitude. I have no inclination to assist you in any way, shape or form.
If you’re going to spew out garbage, at least have the decency to make your garbage consistent or, are you incapable of telling the truth or even sticking to one story?
See quote from email earlier:
2. As I have always posted openly (Real name etc), there are posts within the UK Whitegoods Forums that I am the author of and I no longer have the freedom or right to edit or delete any posts I’ve made previously.
Yet below you say that the username is anonymous. Which is it? You can’t surely be both anonymous and everyone knows who you are as well?
You are completely banned from UK Whitegoods and have no right to anything. You are owed nothing from myself or this company. In fact, it could well be the other way around, perhaps you owe something that is overdue.
Should you wish to take “legal action” or go running to the internet police or whoever you like, knock your cotton socks off, I don’t care.
And, since you failed to attach a screenshot, I’ve taken the liberty of attaching one for your records.
Please don’t bother to answer any of the questions raised as I never want to hear from you again.
No further emails from you will be responded to so don’t bother to waste your time sending any, your emails will be flagged as spam and ignored. Any phone calls placed to any UK Whitegoods line or staff members will be terminated, staff have now been made aware to do so. Text messages will be reported to our mobile carrier as harassment. If you still fail to stop contacting this company, any of its staff or myself the matter will be referred to the police to deal with for harassment.
That message was sent globally to all UKW, ISE and Amica staff members as I will not have staff members placed in a confrontational situation with this idiot. I will also not tolerate the threatening behaviour that he has demonstrated, some of which is just utterly disgusting, especially in text messages to Lawrence in recent times.
But I think from all this you’ll get the gist of what’s gone on.
