ParticipantDont know about the rest of you who deal with Connect but the price of spares has rocketed over recent months, some of the prices are eye watering even pattern parts !
Whilst I appreciate the Euro v Sterling rates the costs are rising whereby we are going to have to either hike our own prices up or try and find alternatives. How are the rest of you fairing who deal with Connect and do you have other suppliers who can supply cheaper ?

Usually you get hit with factory price increases in January squadman. Then, on top of that, we have the currency crisis which has pushed up a lot of pricing as well, so a double whammy.
On top of that you have limited stocks in some cases, just look at the prices of parts on Ardo Merloni stuff, if you can get it or even a price on it. Some of it is okay, but a lot of the prices have just rocketed.
But tightening financials are having an effect on discounts I’d expect.
But let’s say that you deal with a couple million lines as CDSL do. All you do is have a uniform policy on mark ups really as it’s the only way to deal with it as they don’t have a squad of people that understand the market well enough to individually re-price every item. Then you have to consider the percentage discounts that you are forced to used for pretty much the same reasons. So some prices will rocket and some won’t but all rise and the rise is variable on cost.
But it’s not malicious at all, it’s just some dude sat punching in new pricing to the PC or an imported price list and, after that, the rise is calculated on that new cost price.
This is where the smaller and more flexible suppliers win as they can snipe their pricing under the big boys as they don’t work that way.
So in the end you come back to either beating up CDSL for better discounts, which has variable results or, you shop around and look for a better price. Better prices can be found on a lot of things and although it does require some time and effort it can save you hundreds of pounds over the year.
