Can anyone with Qualtex Spareslink installed see if they can run updates. I cannot send an order or get the updates to download. Router & modem lights flashing in short bursts but nothing is up or downloading.

could be a server error. 😕

    Re: Spareslink updates

can anyone give me any info on Qualtex. I spend all my money with Connect but think they are now taking the weeeeeeeeeee.

I have been with Connect since 1993 and spend 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my spares bill with them but any complaint now is just brushed aside.

Is Qualtex in the price ballpark?

    Same here bazza. 👿
Wouldn’t it be nice if someone, representing engineers throughout the UK – like for instance a New Trade Organisation, could hold all the manufacturers accounts, gaining the best discounts, acting as a sole distributor to all its members, who would get parts ONLY through the organisation..
Someone not out to rip its clients off, and who would deliver spares at the best possible prices, which would be the same price to every member.
To me this sounds like another field the W.T.A. could venture into, giving real benefits to its members.

Never used connect but I can give you some examples of the prices of common parts at Qualtex then you can decide for yourself:

    Part No / description / Price (+vat)

    3570114102 fan motor oven £18.40
1603409 wma drum rear half £30.90
    481236158334 motor spray pump £60.12
    264877 bosch d/w control board £67.65
    1611166 hotpoint spider unit £11.75 (unt10 £9.27)
    dan01 fridge thermostat £4.80
    c00035521 indesco carbons&holders £4.30

Should be enough to give you some idea – Hope it helps!

    Brian.

p.s Would be interesting to know how connect or any other company compares – these parts people use the old Roman adage of “Divide & Rule” 😈

No. Whilst it’s a worthy target, overall the wholesalers do a decent job, given their starting point. They buy at a larger discount, given their greater purchasing power, but for manufacturers genuine components, they still buy against “List Price” discounts.

This means that an Askoll drain pump costing £0.50 is marked up to £20 – but our wholesalers can buy this at up to 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount! A whole £5!. Stick a couple of quid on (they need to make a profit too – nothing wrong with that), so £7.00 for the part. Now expand and extrapolate and you can see why everybody is getting robbed.

Now what we really need is a Trade Association which can publicise this grand larceny to the public and make some sense out of it all.

    Chris.

    Re: Spareslink updates

Just out of interest I did a quick comparison, as I use both. (Although mainly Qualtex as Spareslink just suits me better)

    Connect prices in brackets

    3570114102 fan motor oven £18.40 (£18.88)
    1603409 wma drum rear half £30.90 (£31.25)
    481236158334 motor spray pump £60.12 (£57.44)
    264877 bosch d/w control board £67.65 (£56.49)
    1611166 hotpoint spider unit £11.75 (unt10 £9.27) (£9.99 Gen)
    dan01 fridge thermostat £4.80 ( 2+ £4.75)
    c00035521 indesco carbons&holders £4.30 (£4.20 Each)

    Hope this helps
    Toni
