Spark Generator on Proline Gas Hob has Gone Nuts

Hi. Can anyone help? We have a Proline gas hob and my girlfriend has just called me to say that it’s been constantly sparking for over an hour. I don’t think it’s battery powered. Can anyone tell me how I can stop it sparking? I won’t be home from work until late tonight, so was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction so I can sort it out quickly when I get back.

Turn off the electric/unplug it.

Your girlfriend has been over playful with the water.Give it 48 hours to dry out and it will be ok.

Thanks r600a. I’m not sure that she has got it wet, because she’s on nights at the mo and has been asleep all day. I forgot to say in my initial post that it has happened before for short periods of time, both when it’s got wet and when it hasn’t. This might sound a little silly, but would the ignitor run off the same switch as the electric oven? I’m not sure where the switch for the cooker is (it was there when we moved in – the oven that is, not the switch!).
