got them in our street, oh what joy. boy racers slow down rev up, lorry load of scrap crash bang, through the night deliveries going over them at high speed bouncing you out of bed. they serve no purpose at all except jobs for the boys.boys who should be made to live near them. if you want to slow traffic put up a speed indicator. anyone who drives at silly high speeds in a built up area or uses a phone at the wheel is a prat! new technology could help but I doubt that automatic speed controllers of phone blockers fitted as standard to new motors would be a selling point but it might help to get rid of these irritating humps

Just had my car repaired this week. Both front suspension arms/ball joints/anti rollbar bushings etc.
Only done 35k miles in 2.5 years. Damage caused by potholes and speed humps.
Fortunately all covered by warranty except for the knackered tyres.
Why don’t they use all that tarmac to mend the holes in the road instead of building speed humps.

    Re: SPEED HUMPS — AHHHHH

The irony of it all is that speed humps have been proven to cause a huge spike in noxious emissions in their locality due to vehicles not being able to maintain a constant speed. So if you don’t knock them down you poison them slowly. 🙁

That and people buy SUVs to negate the issues.

But heh, it’s environmentally friendly right?

    And cheaper than cops.

Not very friendly to Ambulance passengers.

I wonder how many more patients could have been saved without speed bumps.

winds me up when some muppet if 4×4 its right up your ar${e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}£$ when you have to slow down etc

in our area they have put speed bumps in a street that does really need them due to cars parked both sides – creating a slow area any way

then we have cars coming into village from national speed limit rd most are going faster – we have kids play park – football parks etc right at start of village —

guess what — no speed bumps — but hey we got a slow down sign

most of the locals dont speed etc – but people who dont know the area are still speeding well past the parks — its a crazy situ

Dummy speed cameras would do a better job at less cost so nobody would know what cameras was real or fake.

Then you could also have random speedcheck signs.

I think this would work just as well with less disruption to the emergency services.
