I need to replace an Indesit that I’ve had for 18 years as the drum no longer turns. I’ve read that modern machines have sealed tubs that prevent you from replacing the bearings should they fail. Are there any makes/models in the £300-£400 price range that have split tubs that allow easy repair if necessary?

I’d be prepared to buy a more expensive model if reliability and serviceability was better

some Bosch machines can still be split just depends on the model

fairly easy to check if you know the model (Enr) of the machine through the bosh website. you can look up the parts and if you can buy parts inside the drum and front and back drum halves separately then its not sealed

It’s not so easy to do. Going to spare parts supplier such as https://www.espares.co.uk and entering the model number often comes up with a blank.

The Bosch WAN24100GB for example appears to be a split tub when you look at the diagram on http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/customer-se … section-3/

but the items don’t list any bearings as available for this model

don’t worry about bearing they are standard can always get them and the non sealed tubs are more reliable
if you look at the diagram you can buy the shaft seal item 317.
they would not sell this on a sealed tub
