    Hi all,

I have an Indesit 143S. Over the past few day, the washing coming out has not smelled clean, rather a damp smell. Also the inside of the drum smells the same.

Can anyone give me any advice as to how the flush this through and get it back to being fresh?

    Thanks for any help.

Yes rossy….run a propreitry descaler through it then make sure you do a 90 degree wash at least once a month using a detergent that contains bleach (most do unless they say otherwise)
There’s plenty of information about this problem if you do a search of the forum.

    Thanks Clive.

When you say a descaler……I guess a couple of Calgon tablets will do the trick on an empty wash at 90 degrees?

I will do this tonight if it is correct.

Are you in a hard water area?

Rather than Calgon, I’d use something like this, because Calgon is just a descaler.

Even better would be a detergent containing bleach, like Ariel powder. Powder, not liquid or tabs!

    Tis! Good point! 😀

The problem with your machine rossy, is a build-up of bacteria. Hot washes and detergents containing bleach, are the long-term solutions.
