ParticipantIs there anything such as paint for applying to plastic handles?
Sorry but I’ve been asked by a LL to find out. I don’t blame him really when you see the ridiculous price of spares.
Thanks

Hi
Exhaust paint would probably do a better job as its heat proof to a certain extent.

Hot oven door handles? Something’s wrong if the ruddy handles get hot!

Only problem with exhaust paint is you need the heat of an exhaust (350 – 450 degrees) to cure it – or it’ll all come off on your hands. Use plastic bumper primer to key the surface and then some engine enamel suitable for bike engine blocks – that should be up to the job; shiny as well. Brake caliper paint might also do…….

Handles under the EUBS standards are allowed to reach nearly 100oc as are knobs

Eventually found a not so reasonably priced alternative oven handle. Special order though.
LL: Why does it cost so much?
Me: Because the appliance is so old, and all parts less elements are obsolete. This is an alternative. It’s not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} but similar enough to use.
LL: No it can’t be, it’s only 5 maybe 8 years old.
Me: No, more like 15 years according to the date code.My how time flies in the world of appliances. Thanks to all for their contribution but I’m not going down the route of painting. I thought it might be an option. 🙂

I do hope the ‘alternative’ is fully EUBS compliant. 😈

Qualtex do universal cooker door handles, i’ve used them a few times and they are ok, and only £10.00 so a bargain.
