Starts but does not fill…now

Hi I have a Whirlpool ADG994.

The fault is that when the machine is at rest the front led flashes on and off. It does so continuously and there are no breaks.

When the start button is pressed, nothing happens.

But if the button is held on for about 5 seconds the machine starts. It makes the sound that it always used to make at the beginning of the wash cycle which I have always taken to be the sound of the water softener priming, but I do not know.

The problem is that it makes this sound for about two minutes and then stops. It never fills. Then the led starts flashing again and we are back to square one.

This is the second fault with this machine and during the course of fixing it I found out that this model is BEFORE led fault codes were implemented. so there is no help to be had there.

I want to add that I do not fill the machine’s water softener with salt becuase I have a softener for the entire house that supplies softwater to the machine. I just mention it in case it is important.

Any help you can give would be great.

Really need the serial number but without it I’d say that this model gives a continuous flash for any error. It needs the engineer to access the electronics to obtain the correct error code.
