After lengthy discussions with the manufacturer, it appears that the bleeper which sounds at each press of a button, and eight times at end of cycle cannot be dampened or switched off. The volume registers at 67-75 decibels. We find it interrupts our business phone which is in the kitchen, and wakes us up if we try doing an overnight wash. Some brands have a way of using the buttons to cancel the bleeper. What can we do?

By the sounds of it, replace the dishwasher or live with it would be the only options you have.

Would the control PCB at the lower edge of the door have a simple connection I could disconnect?

if you can find the beeper they are normally small round with a hole in the top mounted on the pcb. if you cover the hole with tape it will reduce the volume a lot
