doign a warranty statesman xt5 bearings, in theory this should have been a doddle, but anyways,

got the “uprated” fag type to fit, originals are imploded so just wondering which way round these new ones fit in the tub…

6205-2RSR = one side has s5 and on the otherside s3

    and on the

6204-2RSR = one side has s4 and on the otherside s3

would i be right in thinking the s3 sides face towards the pulley? and the s4/s5 sides face the drum, its just this is my first complete bearing change by myself (i usually normally just use a new rear tub with bearings fitted but statesman dont have any to send out)

As long as they’re sealed ball race bearings and not taper rollers, then it doesn’t matter which way round.
Not heard of S3 but C3 is a measure of the clearance. C3 is a larger clearance allowing a bit more wobble.
You can find out all you need to know about bearings and plenty more enough to send you to sleep on the http://www.simplybearings.co.uk website.
