When did this become normal. A 15 year old hotpoint didn’t have, either that or the steam was hitting the wall behind it for years?!

Our new one vents steam up the back of the tiling, seemingly now the norm. When and why?

ovens have always had steam vents in various places over the years but at the back is common

Thanks Dave, we must have had condensation trapped below the tile line for years with our old home then, we never had a stream of water up the back of the splashback before.

some of the vents used to be in the door. they left a gap in the door seal at the bottom to allow it to escape. which meant you would never know it was there

Thank you. That must have been the case with our old cooker then.

It’s created a new problem that we never had before (steam/water dripping down splashback, down the back of the cooker).

Are users just supposed to monitor the condensation and wipe it whenever the oven is on? A step backward it feels.

How do integrated ovens vent steam?

integrated would have to front vent to stop the wooden kitchen units from getting damaged
