ParticipantGood morning,
Could anyone let me know if the above fault is likely to be the main oven thermostat, as I believe there are also safety ‘stats fitted to this oven.
I understand that the oven or grille cuts out after around 30 to 60 minutes, and wonder if I should remove the main thermostat to test it first?
Does this ‘stat control the grille and oven temperatures.
Regards,
jonty

Have you checked the terminal block for loose connections, loose links etc?

No,
Ideally I would like to rectify the problem first time, though realise this may not be possible.
Will let you know how it goes.

He wants us to diagnose the fault for him, so he can turn up and fix first time, he would hopefully have a terminal block on his van in his van stock if it turns out to be this.

Evening all,
I am certainly not asking for a “remote diagnosis!”
As a relative newcomer, certainly to range ovens, I am quite simply tring to obtain some advice and information in order to become more conversant with such problems.
Ideally, I should have spent more time trying to diagnose the fault on my initial visit.
However, as I couldn’t conclusively fault the main thermostat, I thought I would see if I could obtain some info’ as I understand a safety thermostat may also be at fault for this problem.
Will return, and carry out further tests and inspections, which hopefully will shed some light on the issue.

Reading your first post it reads as if you havnt been to the range cooker, glad you have decided to actually call and use your tools to diagnose the fault and after testing the components you will almost certainly discover what is wrong, if not then come back and tell us what you have tested.

Returned earlier this week and confirmed oven thermostat faulty.
I did inspect and check the terminal block as suggested.
Unfortunately thermostat: 081835801 is now obsolete, and no replacement available through Stoves.
I’ve been unable to obtain the genuine or replacement part through the other usual channels/anywhere!
One supplier is kindly trying their best to obtain replacement.
In the meantime I would be grateful if sarcastic, unpleasant comments were not placed on this fine resource.
Kind regards/best wishes,
jonty

Replacement T’stat for the obselete 082269300 thermostat is 082558001, it is available as in link provided, likely there has to be a conversion kit also needed as some of these were clockwise & others anti clockwise :-

I would be checking the fans, both the oven circulation fan & the cooling fan, if they are not working correctly its possible the oven would go out on over temp’.
This appliance has a separate grill regulator, grill is selected by multifunction switch, which is also used for oven selection. Both have separate controls, oven t’stat should have a fan switch also on its control.
Problems that i’ve encountered with these are where customers have turned the knob the wrong direction & physically broke the front switch part of oven control, other than that mostly loose connections & links in terminal block, slow fans, not many thermostat faults.December 15, 2012 at 11:19 am #385607jontymox

Thanks for your input Seamy,
I obtained the replacement ‘stat, 082558001 but as you say a conversion kit is required.
However, Stoves and other suppliers assure me that no such kit is available!
Will investigate further,

You also need a small selector switch which the EGO t’stat piggy backs onto the back of, the selector sw’ controls the fan etc’.
This selector switch has got a slip clutch & its important you get the correct one or it won’t work, it works strangely when piggy backed onto t’stat in that control turns on anti clockwise & is at maximum setting first & minimum temp’ acheived by rotating fully.
There is a technical bulletin available, Stoves should have this, tell them you are converting to EGO type t’stat.
I can send you the technical bulletin buts its no use if you don’t have the necessary parts. -
