ParticipantHi – I have a Stoves 900DFT Duel Feel Range Cooker. The larger oven on the right hand side no longer works. When turning the dial, the red light doesn’t illuminate, no fan kicks in and no heat. It is dead essentially.
The rest of the cooker is fine, including the smaller electric oven on the left. All Gas hobs and grill function well too.
I am hoping this is something I can fix as a competent DIY’er without having to take the appliance apart? Maybe a fuse or something simple?
I have turned off the power via the main house fuse board to force a “reboot” but that made no difference.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Moderatorhas the unit got a clock as these can stop the oven working if wrongly set

ParticipantHi Dave
Yes it does have a clock. The other oven on the left continues to work fine. The time is correctly set and the countdown timer works as normal.
Thanks
Martin

ParticipantHi Dave – I am not sure what you mean unfortunately. What would you suggest I try? The knob itself or an electrical component behind the covers?
The knob doesn’t feel loose compared to the others.
Thanks

ParticipantGreat. Thanks, I will try this. I assume the knob will just come off with a firm pull?

Moderatoryes the knob just pulls off but you will have to strip the cooker to get at the switch.
often you have to take the top offDave

ParticipantThanks Dave.
I’ve had a walkthrough before unscrewing anything and I believe / hope it’s a case of 2 screws each side (holding the side bezels in place) then 5 at the front facia inner along with multiple under the burners holding the top sheet in place. I have easy access to the sides and back of the oven thankfully, even though at this stage I don’t think any screws are on the rear for the top sheet.
I was going to attach a picture but I’m restricted by limits.
I’ll try this tomorrow and see if any obvious burn marks. If nothing, would you suggest it’s still likely to be fixed by replacing the unit?
Having reseated everything, it does seem to have more play than other function buttons. As though something has given way inside. Not totally loose, just looser than others.
thanks again

ParticipantHere is the link – hopefully you can see what I am getting at.

The red is where the 4 outer screws are, which hold the bezel in place left and right.
The blue is the dial in question, for operating the larger oven on the right hand side
The Yellow is where there are 5 screws holding the top sheet to the front panel
The Green being where there are multiple screws holding the top sheet down to the oven body
I am going to unscrew them later today and inspect the component / see how it looks.
Thanks again

ParticipantHi Dave
Good news. After opening up the top and inspecting the switch, I could see it had somehow worked loose from the black retaining clip at the rear. The brown part was popped back in and it worked immediately as the switch gears could now connect. This explains why it felt more loose than others. No idea how that could happen but I will replace if it occurs again.

Picture above of the offending area.
One sliced thumb later and its all sorted (lethally sharp some of those edges!)
Thanks for your guidance

ParticipantI spoke too soon. While it now powers up the fan and the light comes on, there is no heat and the red temperature light on the front bezel doesn’t illuminate.
Very frustrating as I thought it was resolved.
I ensured all connections were firmly seated on the switch. There was no obvious damage to any of the wires.
Any additional guidance appreciated!
