ParticipantHi
I have an obscure (to me anyway) problem with my 900GTF oven, model no. 0590 40358 serial no. 004088. This relates to the main fanned oven only.
Often it will fail to ignite although there is a spark at the burner. If it does light, the flame is unstable and will sometimes extinguish completely even after the burner comes up to full rate.
The way to overcome the problem is to keep either the top oven/grill door open or to keep the main oven door very slightly open.
I’m not sure about this but it may be that the problem is worse when the oven is operated at higher temperatures or for longer periods.
Any help or guidance will be most appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation

where are you at ?
you really need someone who has worked for stoves (like me) or stoves themselves I am afraidthe type of problem you have could have several different ways of being fixed……new door seal, adjustments or even just that the top oven inner door glass has slipped lower than it should in the door frame.January 21, 2006 at 6:57 pm #161361cleudo2006

We had one of these ovens at our last house.
Our problem came to light when the newly installed carbon monoxide detector kept on going off after having the oven on for 15 mins or so.
We called out a Stoves engineer (under warranty at the time), and it seemed that the door seal was not being effective, with the result that the flame was lifting off the main burner and creating carbon monoxide.
He fitted a new seal – flame burned properly and no carbon monoxide.
If this is what’s happening with you – suggest you get it seen to quick.

Hi
Flame lift off is due to a lack of oxygen, ie poor room ventilation and will give you a build up of carbon monoxide.
I would cease to use this appliance immediately until you get it checked by a corgi registered installer.

ParticipantDont bother with any corgi engineer with this oven as I have stated already you really need either a stoves engineer or even better an ex stoves engineer (as they will be cheaper for certain),the oven is too complicated for your average gas engineer I am afraid.

I appreciate that its beyond the scope of most corgi engineers.
Im more concerned of the safety aspect in the interim of finding a suitable engineer.
