ParticipantI bought this dishwasher from Facebook as a low use working unit. I connected it up to find that the programs do not start. I can hear the pump so i thought i would strip it down a little.
In the drains there was quite a build up of black flakey stuff and on the left hand side high up where the fresh water comes in there was a lot of black build up.
Starting a 30min rapid program i can see the pump gets rid of any old water, then it starts to fill with water, then nothing, i open the door after some time and test the water and its still cold, the spray arms dont move at all either. I tested the heater and got 28ohms so that looks to be ok. I saw online that it might be a faulty door catch so i pushed against the door but it was the same, when closing the door it makes a beep anyway and starts the program so i dont think its that either
No errors on the pannel other than complaining about salt and rinse aid, did i miss anything else before i lug it back to the seller?

Moderatorsometimes through lack of use the wash motors on dishwashers jam because the water seal gets stuck
you would need to get at the motor and see if its free to turn

ParticipantThanks Dave, is the motor quite a small one say the size of an R/C car? I still have the sides off it so can easily access it
Ah i can see its the larger unit at the bottom of the drain. Would that not be working since it pumps the waste water out? maybe its only pumping one way i guess

Thanks again Dave, is it jsut a case of getting a hand in there and spinning it?

Moderatoryes or sometimes there is a screw driver slot at the rear of the motor
beware dont just force it. If it wont turn move it backwards and forwards untill you feel it spring. hopefully it will break free and then you can try it
if you push too hard too quick you may damage the water seal

ParticipantThe water inlet up top was quite clogged up but there was loads of manky fish skin past the bottom filter when i used a plunger to try to force some flow. Thinking about it, could well be as you say a blocked motor. I assumed the same pump for the drain was for the recirculating water to the spray arms

ParticipantDave you absolute legend. The motor had a small bit of resistance and clicked. Now it moves. I tested the drain pump motor and free also. It’s currently finishing a 30 min rapid program and water is hot too. Made up thanks so much
spoke too soon. I got an e4 error at the end of the cycle.

E4 looked like flooded base. there is a float where the motor is and there is water down there for some reason

ParticipantYeah i whizzed the sides off ant noticed there was water coming down from the top of the salt resevoir where it attaches to the tub. There is a black seal on the outside of the tub but just the collar on the inside of the tub. Im going to seal it up with a little silicone tonight and try it again. Fingers crossed thats the end of it
