ParticipantBeko dishwasher seems to be filling up partly with dirty water. I have cleaned the dishwasher (filters, propellers, interior). We noticed a strange taste in out mouths after using dishes out of the dishwasher. They seemed clean but upon closer inspection had a very thin film of something. When i start the dishwasher it drains completely and then fills up with water. This new clean water however has something in it that foams up a bit and stays on top as soon as the dishwasher start cleaning. Without any detergent. I found this out by opening and closing the dishwasher at different time in the prewash cycle. I cant find any information if there is a valve on the outlet hose that i could replace. I have a high loop and water from the sink can’t get into the dishwasher. Also after a cycle, when i look at the bottom of the dishwasher, bellow the filter, very very small amount of water remain but with time it backfills about 1-2 cm. I dont know if the pump alone can prevent this or if there is a clog in the pump or if that is maybe normal as i haven’t payed that much attention before.
I am puzzled on this one and will be very happy to get some suggestions. I have engineering experience and also repairing things around the house but i dont want to disassemble the dishwasher if i don’t know what i am looking for.
Thank you!

Moderatordouble check its not your sink as that is the normal problem
put plug in sink and fill the sink
remove filter in dishwasher and note water level
now pull plug out of sink and see if water level changes

KeymasterDave’s right, it sounds like a classic case of backfilling from the waste pipe which normally means it is blocked partially or, too low with the latter being the most common so waste water from the sink goes into the dishwasher.
Any dishwasher I know of will drain, clear the sump then fill but there could be residues left possibly and that could taint things. You’re effectively tasting waste, so that ain’t good.
I’d bet it’s on a spigot to the waste under the sink and not a standpipe.

KeymasterThe plumbing looks okay but somehow water is getting back in from there as, if it’s dirty water there only is one source of that, the waste.
There is no oil in them.
There is no way to clean the salt chamber; you can only replace it.

ParticipantHey everyone,
The salt chamber is now empty and the water still foams up as soon as the pump starts the cleaning. I tried running a cycle with a dishwasher cleaner, with vinegar and with baking soda. Nothing helped. Also we noticed all of our dishes that were in the dishwasher at some point have a film on them that is impossible to remove. Our working theory is that some laundry detergent got in there as i cant think of any other chemical that can end up in there. After scrubbing dishes profusely thinking they are clean, if you pour water into it, it forms lasting bubbles. We bought a new glass and the water bubble in there dissipate immediately so it is not the water. Is there any way we can clean the dishwasher or the dishes if it was indeed laundry detergent or should we look for a new dishwasher.
Thanks

Moderatorwell all i can say is rinse rinse rinse
there can be a very small anount of detergent and it will foam
had had these situations and you have to rinse it out
