ModeratorCustomer originally complained that machine would not spin. I told her to check for OOB by trying the machine empty.
She reported back that when set to spin only it would not go into spin, just tumbled slowly for ages.
I called yesterday, set it to spin before I even pulled it out and as you might know it went into spin perfectly.
Just to be on the safe side I checked the sump and found a couple of pound coins but no real obstructions. I tried it several times and it went into full spin every time.
Told her to try it out again and she has just called back to say it seems to be doing exactly the same. She put it on a quick wash which she seems to think went to quickly 😕 but it wouldn’t spin. load was apparently a couple of towels and a few other bits & pieces.
Once again I asked her to remove the load and try it empty and once again she reports that the drum revolves but will not go into spin speed, even when empty.
All wiring to motor/module and brushes look perfect.
I wondered if it might have an intermittently sticking pressure switch but it has never flashed up an error code of any kind. ❓ ❓
Any ideas/ wild guesses welcome. 😀

Had a heater cause this a couple of times on a WF but not on a WD, may be worth a look Jim.

Thanks jj, will give it a look. Spoken to them again and if set to spin it does do a very short, slow spin but seems to be stuck in a loop doing the same thing over and over again. 😕

Went back today with more time to spare, gave it my best shot, customer now going to take advantage of five year parts guarantee on my advice. 😥
Checked both wash & dryer elements, no faults whatsoever. Even plugged the leads onto a brand new wash element and fault was the same.
Without clothes in, set to long spin. Machine pumps, motor runs and does two short spins then both pump & motor switch off completely. After about two minutes the motor starts to rotate in a gentle, reversing wash action but the pump does not run. After a few minutes it stops again completely and after another couple of minutes keeps repeating the same sequence.
Its what you would expect if a machine had an ‘anti creasing, short tumble every so often at the end of wash’ type of cycle.
Strangely, if I insert the hardware key and put it into Auto Test it will ramp up to full spin speed for the full duration of the spin test cycle perfectly. :rolls: 😥 😕

for some strange reason these wd’s kind of get a corrupted programme, if you put it on wash they hardly tumble, usually cured by reprogramming eeprom… hope that helps

It would if I had the Emit/WashDoctor software capability. 😥
It more or less confirms my suspicions of a module fault though, thanks.
