Customer complains machine will not start, door lock symbol flashes and machine beeps five times.

Simple door lock fault thinks I 😥

Changed door lock but no difference. Checked doorlock to PCB and all other wiring, removed door lock from machine and activated by hand to eliminate latch problems to no avail.

Ran machine on diagnostics check and got an instant E-17, doorlock fault.
Removed facia to examine the control module for physical signs of damage. Releasd the top three plastic lugs but left the module in situ, just eased it backwards so that I could see all the contacts. No visual faults at all. Refitted the machine, resigned to possible control module fault. Tried machine once more and it worked perfectly with both the new and old door interlock. ❓

Left the machine for customer to test for a few days, does it seem feasible that by flexing the board I have released a sticking relay or similar??

More than likely moved a poor connection to PCB aka Zanussi user boards with their rather inferior strip connector. I often remove the plugs and clean the tracks before condemning the board with a good rate of success.
    See how it goes!

Fairly good connections from interlock to PCB on these machines, only three years old, all connections are absolutely perfect, no sign of poor contact of any kind.

Thanks for that pen0668, BTW, turn your CAPS LOCK off when posting, it is considered as shouting although it doesn’t sound any louder to me, it looks nicer in normal text. 🙂
