Re: Strix to Diamond H ?????

    AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH.

There, I feel much better now, what an absolute asshole of a job, now fully sorted. 8)

As mentioned before the wiring diagram in the manual is different to what I found in the cooker on this Strix regulator. The manual shows two connections to terminal 4 and only one to terminal 2, the exact opposite of what it actually was.

The enclosed leaflet only mentions making sure that the wire fitted to Term 4 on the Strix must go to 4A on the new Diamond H (wrong) :rolls:

When I first wired up this reg I did as this leaflet said, put the single red wire (load)from 4 to 4A, transfered double live red from P1 to P1 and transfered the double black and single black from 2 to 2.

Big mistake, thats what took out the RCD and the control unit. 🙁

I went back this afternoon with a new control unit, opened the box to find instructions on how to set the time and a single extension cable, no wiring instructions at all. The six terminals on the new unit are all numbered but the six terminals on the old unit are in different positions and have no identification at all. 😡

I worked out that L7 & N8 were live and neutral but that still left four wires going to the two relays with no means of knowing which was which. I could have tossed a coin but decided to fit the connections to the main oven to the relay terminals marked 1 & 1a, I put the other two wires to terminals 2 & 2a. As she later informed me that she does not use auto timer I don’t suppose it matters if they are the wrong way round. 😕

I then set about sorting the wiring to the regulator.

I case any other poor soul has to replace a Strix with a double terminal 2 and a single terminal 4, with a Diamond H on one of these I will list the original wiring and the correct one for the new regulator.

    Old Strix.
    P1 Double live (red)
    4 Single load ( red)
2 Double neutral (black) & single load (black)

Wiring to new Diamond H 40ER101C1P

    P1 Double live (red )
    4A Double neutral (black ) & single load ( black )
    2 Single load (red)

I then put it all back together, everything worked fine until I came to switch on the last hotplate only to find that the thin card indicator disc had come unstuck from the knob, I had to strip it all down again and glue the card back to the knob.

I had to miss my game of squash to complete this, much satisfaction at the end though. 8)

Re: Strix to Diamond H ?????

just read your thread. it never ceases to amaze me how they can get away with instructions that are completely wrong. i once had a problem with a dual grill controller which took out the timer and selector switch. cost a fortune.
how can these guys be allowed to use the same terminal numbers for different purposes depending on controller. you’d think that thered be some eec harmonisation of all regulators irrespective of manufacturer. The lack of that coupled with wrong intructions should give us good cause to sue as its dangerous.
we might as well have a free for all on mains colour coding.

It could have been worse, as mentioned I needed two regulators (C00199654) for this job. Both came in sealed, genuine Hotpoint/Indesit plastic bags but only one of them had any wiring instructions at all, the other was all alone in the bag. :rolls:

    🙁 🙁 🙁

Now into sleepless night territory with this. 😥

All rings and functions working fine except that the new timer/controller unit is gaining 4 or 5 hours every 24 hours. :eeek:

    Anyone have any idea why?
