Hi all – our LG fridge/freezer (GBB72PZEFN) is really struggling in the current heatwave. Fridge is 9-10C, freezer goes from -10 to 4C. Oddly, we’re not getting any temp alarms either, unless we switch it on/off (or do the LG smart diagnosis thing, which reports nothing is wrong!).

I’m guessing it’s faulty and needs a call out (or replacement, it’s pretty new). But on inspecting it closely, we saw this residue encrusted around one of the pipes leading to the compressor:

Could this be the source of the fault?

    Any opinion appreciated!

Given the age of it and the symptoms, I’d guess the compressor has had it and it’s time for a new one I’m afraid, it’s too expensive a fix to repair and most parts are obsolete now.

But it’s only 6 weeks old. I wonder if this is something I can try get the retailer to replace, rather than have the repairs techs organise appointments etc. I’m still waiting on LG to call me back..

Oh, that’s why I’m seeing the weirdness I am, I had assumed it was one of the old ones with similar model numbers.

No, there’s no quick fix I’m afraid and I suspect you’re going to need it to be looked at. And, in warranty, no option but to let LG do it.

The residue is flux from when the joint was soldered, not an issue or reason for any faults.
