Stuck bearing

Hi there. My machine is a Hotpoint 800 DeLuxe 9519W (Group 1).

Yesterday, i purchased a bearing kit for £45. That included the ‘spider’ and both replacement bearings and the bearing seal.

When i removed the drum, the inner bearing fell apart, leaving the outer ball-race still in place and stuck fast! The outer bearing came away without difficulty. I suppose my request isn’t particularly machine specific, but more of a general engineering query – but what can i do to get this old bearing out?

So far i’ve walloped it, whacked it, hammered it, smashed it and i’ve even hit it once or twice too.

Now, this is life-or-death. I talked my wife into parting with £45 of the precious christmas budget. If i don’t get this machine going soon, it could well be Goodnight Vienna.

Can anyone help to save my life?

    Much obliged,

That’s what we have to do to get the bearing sleeve out. A liberal dose of WD40 followed by a sharp tipped cold chisel and lump hammer!

    Enjoy!
