This reminds me of a situtation some while back where I was called to a built in dishwasher. The guy informed me once I arrived that the dishwasher was hardwired into a socket behind the dishwasher. I asked where I could isolate the appliance. He then showed me two wall mounted sockets above the worktop above where the dishwasher was housed.
To get power to the hardwired concealed socket that supplied the dishwasher he produced a JUMP lead with a 13 amp plug fitted at each end !
Having then plugged this death trap in he jumped the power from one outlet to the other this jump lead being about 18 inches in length. Amazed at this I pointed out the error of this installation and made notes on my job sheet. He then told me not to be concerned about this as HE KNEW how to handle this arrangement and that it therefore presented no danger !!! In anycase I needed to remove the dishwasher, he had already removed the plinth and the lower plate cover from the dishwasher before I arrived. I told him I wanted it unplugged and that I would not be touching it, looking at me as if I were some idiot he removed the left hand plug, before I could say anything he had contacted the pins of the plug which were still powered up from the other socket and got a nasty bolt ! I switched the switch off on the other socket and he was jumping around the kitchen holding his hand in pain !
I said now you know why I wasnt going to touch it and why I tried to explain the potential for injury or death. Thing is this guy was a copper and really you could’nt imagine anything more stupid !

I once repaired a dishwasher belonging to a police officer. Basically a blocked drain pump but somehow he managed to almost destroyed his 1 year old whirlpool. He stripped it down and asked if I can finish it off.
A button got caught in the pump, think it was from his white shirt. Perhaps he was confused which is a washing machine or dishwasher?

I worked in a police social club for a few months as a close relative is a serving ossifer. Officers sending porn on there phone is tame compared to stuff i’ve heard.
