I am scrapping my old Creda TVR2 as I am sick and tired of all the lint it generates all over the kitchen, and inside the machine with it’s subsequent fire hazard.
Having looked inside the cabinet, it gets covered in lint very quickly and to me is a worrying ‘feature’, requiring frequent disassembly and vacuuming.!
It looks like the air flow is as follows:-
Air is drawn in through the blower, and forced through the heater and into the drum. It then flows out of the drum and down through the lint filter into the exhaust pipe.
Finally, out of the back of the machine along the corrugated pipe to outside the house.
So the drum is pressurized meaning any leaks around the edge of the drum ( which only has thin felt as a seal) blows fluff into the main cabinet and works.
If one Googles “how tumble dryers work” they say the blower is down-stream from the drum, making the drum a ‘low pressure’ area, preventing fluff escaping which makes more sense keeping lint out of the cabinet, heater, motor and our living space!
So my question is which new VENTED machine do I buy? (as I bet they don’t tell you in the ‘spec’ whether the fan is up stream or downstream of the drum).
All thoughts anecdotes and advice gratefully accepted….
Thanks in anticipation.
