We have all seen the claims for ‘unbelievable’ fix times for various jobs, “WMA bearing change, 30 minutes tops” etc. I’m sure I spotted a post from this gentleman saying that he had ‘devoloped’ a method of cleaning GDA condensor dryer float chambers in minutes. Has he been persuaded to impart his skills to the rest of the community?

True, but in the spirit of Jeremy’s current thread, he hasn’t told her exactly how to do it…… Chaos will no doubt ensue if she tries to follow his advice and who knows? Another job for repairs@?

I wish I could find the post from a couple of days ago, it may have been from someone else, possibly a Merloni employee mentioning a method he had devised. I find that in my case you can always teach an old dog new tricks. 🙂

Thankfully the “outside of the workwear pants wearers” only seem to post in the trade areas apart from that one…

It would be nice to get to the gubbings of a Creda condensor by removing 8 screws 😕

When I was young it was the size/score of your conker, how many pancakes you had eaten on Shrove Tuesday, later it became how many pints you had supped the night before., then the female of the species came along and scoring took on a whole new meaning 😈 I guess we all have to grow up, just takes some a little longer than others. 😉

I have to bite my tongue when I read quotes from trade members quoting times it takes for certain jobs “35 mins for a WM spigot/bearing change” was one classic load of BS.
Takes me back to 1970 when BDA Hotpoint took over English Electric and their engineers joined our ‘happy throng’ and we were forced to join the TGWU as a result. The smart arses at E/Elec had allocated only a ‘2 call rate’ to strip a Liberator drum to replace the bearings, when even the fastest of workers in a typical small kitchen environment could not possibly do such a repair in less than ‘3 call’ rate! 👿
“8 screws, 15 minutes tops”………….yeah right 🙄

I remember those drums, you had two different types of slide, either the original large flat metal thing or the later black tubular frame that you had to wedge down the side of the drum before you dragged the whole of the guts out of the machine. All the ex English Electric engineers that joined BDA where big blokes except one wee chap from Broadbottom called Bob Stoddart, I often used to wonder how he managed a drum change, turns out he used to take his wife with him to help to drag the beast apart. 😀
