Old 800 machine in good nick. Element checks OK. No power to it unless 90deg button pressed in. There’s the timer which shows no signs, and a three terminal stat?/ntc? with a modular plug. Thinking of trying stat if I can find one. Any offers?

Bit more research done. Timer for this model is as used for zan fl882. Stat for that model is listed as 60/80.
If that is the right stat how would the m/c do 40/50?

It’ll be a timer fault, Mike. The machine is so basic that it assumes a water temperature of 15c coming in and heats against time. Yours will be skipping through. Given its age and limited parts availability, I’d let this one go………

EMW do a couple of recon timers which look like this for £34.90 plus the usual. And I could send it back if it doesn’t do the job. Might be worth a go.
OTOH, it’s quite a young customer living in an upstairs flat so probably no line drying so 1200 spin upgrade might be good. And she got the machine given to her originally so probably won’t want to spend much.
But then again, do I send her to Currys 😯 ? Not likely to stretch to an ISE.
Guess I’ll have to spend ten minutes giving her the facts and let her make up her own mind.

Do her a re-con and get something out of the job?

I gave up reconditioning machines about ten years ago. There was no money in it then. But I might suggest she has a look in the local auction on Tuesday.

Just had a thought. I’ve got a s/h zanussi stat of same size and shape which is marked NC39. If I check out which terminals are the 39, swop it for the 90 stat that’s in the machine then try the machine with the 90 button in. Seems worth a try. Anybody got a wiring/schematic they can lend me?
