T8826 WP Heatpump Tumble Dryer – Clunking noise

T8826 WP Heatpump Tumble Dryer purchased end Aug 2011. Worked fine until about 2 months ago and started to make a mechanical clunk/bang sound intermittently during the cycle.

Has anyone come across this?

Sounds like it could be the compressor when stopping. Perhaps there is a similar problem with Miele refrigeration too?

As under warranty Miele guy took a look but couldnt find the fault. He said he had nothing in the Miele knowledgebase on this problem and had never heard of the issue. He did also say that this was the first of this model he had worked on.

Fan seems to run freely and drum is fine on the reverse action.

Any thoughts would be appreciated as its got all the hallmarks of one that will run and run 🙁

for those that wanted to know once the compressor was replaced the problem went away however a year later the issue has returned so back on to Miele again. 🙁
