A good place to start, after you have unplugged of course, is the small thermostat located inside the door surround near the top. Held in place by two small screws. Lie on your back and stick your head inside to observe.

You will need a megger or multimeter to test this component and also the heating element if this stat is not faulty.

PS. EVERY call is urgent..or so I get told several times every day. 😉 If its not that then its “an emergency” :rolls:

In my book, serious illness, accidents or worse are emergencies, not failures of domestic appliances. 😛

    Thankyou.
Have checked the thermostat inside the door and like the other two on the heater element are closed. What should the readings on the multimeter be?

All stats should be closed circuit.

Three different types of element used, resistances vary from 33 Ω to 78Ω dependant upon which type of heater is fitted and if you are testing one side of the element or both together.

If it is faulty then it is often possible to see the break in the element.

The Pnc or product number is required for any detailed parts or technical info.

Once you have tested the stats and the elements plus the wiring from the element to the timer etc its really as much as you can do without throwing parts at it. 😥

So have you tested the element?

If that is OK then from here on in it is mainly guesswork or time to get someone in with full access to technical information. 😉

Right the element is checked and working 😀 The thermostats are closed 😀
its a matter of checking everything else now, surely it not gonna be too serious a problem, there doesnt seem to be much in there.

Too true, this games a real doddle and no mistake. :rolls:

Not sure what you mean by the heater is checked ‘and working’, if its working then it should be getting hot. :con:

My other half connected a lead to the heating element and it got hot. No idea why it is that when its connected to the dryer only cold air blows through.

An exceedingly foolish and unnecessary thing to do. 😯

I fear that if you are going to indulge in such dangerous practices then I can offer no further help. 😥

ok, we’ll all bear that in mind when we want to rewire a house

so good he must be, doin live testing and stuff

if its simple, with nothing much in there, why is he asking for help?

no need to be bullish about it, the facts are, he hasnt found the fault
