ModeratorIf like me you have been happily using the TDS dvd with both Acrobat Reader v5 & v7 installed beware of the latest Acrobat Reader 7.05 update. It has completely messed up my TDS dvd operation. 😥

I found the same as Jim, namely that the dvd wouldn’t work with the latest Acrobat download. I had to delete it and re-install an earlier version from a disk which luckily I had kept. I meant to speak to the TDS technical guy but have never got round to it. Geoff

Beware of any Acrobat Reader up-dates, you don’t need them to run the latest TDS after all said and done. The old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t mend it!” applies here I reckon 😉

KeymasterI get this all the time. Unfortunately many of the Acrobat updates are required to run things like interactive PDF files and there is also version conflict on some software, AIS and Servis spring to mind, where if you don’t have the correct version of Acrobat they just won’t run.
Not very bright really.

I have uninstalled both Reader 5 and 7, together with the full TDS install, ran Registry Mechanic which cleared a few more related files then using regedit, cleared out all references to Adobe and TDS. Using the TDS disc I did reinstalled Reader 5 then the full TDS files but the problem still persists. Internet Explorer blocks a file download, I accept the file and run it, initially Reader 5 would then open, I could select a model number but when I clicked on the model I only got the parts list on the left, no parts diagrams in the right window.
Now if I allow the download and try to run it I get an error message and it fails. 😥
There were some Microsoft critical updates a week or so ago, I wonder if they are causing this conflict because I don’t remember using the TDS disc for a week or two??
Before last night TDS ran perfectly, sometimes, initially opening Reader 5 but sometimes using Reader 7 to display files without any problems.

What a b****y pain. Uninstalled Reader 7 then using System restore went back more than three weeks, before the latest Microsoft Critical Updates. Reinstalled Reader 5 & TDS and it is now working, The icon in the systray is now warning me that the Critical Updates are ready for download, I will have to use trial and error to see which one is causing the problem.
I always have auto update for Microsoft patches enabled, has anyone had all the latest Microsoft Critical Updates from a week or so ago that still has a functioning TDS program?

Nope, mine doesn’t work either but it could be either MS updates or Adobe, both have updated since I last used it 🙁
Lux need to be aware of this to be honest as it’s an ongoing and repeated issue. Quite why TDS needs a “special” version of Acrobat is quite beyond me to be honest 😈

I’m pretty certain after several hours of b*****ing about that the conflict is between the latest Microsoft Critical Update and the TDS version of Acrobat Reader, the file download that is blocked is a VBS file from the TDS web site, not from Adobe.

Nope…our tech info on TDS is now lost to us……
As there is no fix possible for us…where next. This devalues TDS by half!

Mine is now working fine again, have not yet risked putting Acrobat Reader 7 back even though it ran perfectly before with both v5 & v7. I did a System Restore back to Oct 20th and TDS is still working even after I allowed the Microsoft Critical Update ref: KB896424 to update and install TDS is running fine with the version of Reader 5 from the TDS dvd.
