ParticipantThis week my hard disc died on the desktop PC so I’m having to do everything on the laptop. I’ve been trying to install the Electrolux TDS facility but without success. When I try to open the application I get an error message referring to DBGRID32.OCX. I’m wondering if TDS is not compatible with Vista? It worked OK on the desktop which was on XP.

Hi, If you search the archives I outlined the procedure for this some while back.

Thanks for the replies. I just tried the command prompt bit but it didn’t work as it failed to find the file (which does show in the system32 directory). I was not logged in as administrator as I don’t know the password for that. The laptop was set up by my father who passed away last year.

A bit long winded but some of it might help.
TBH. I set up a Vista laptop for the missus over 18 months ago and she couldn’t remember the password she had entered. I did sort it in the end but I’m damned if I can remember how I actually did it. 😳

Whew 😀 thanks Gents.
I’ve had this disc for months and had to fire up my old XP PC to get the disc working. Re-installed it on my lappy again after this new thread and right clicked on the prog. in the start up menu, opened as administrator and it loaded, finally 😀 😀 .TC

Thanks again. I had thought I would have to go to the shut down menu and select “Switch User” to login as admin. If I do that I get asked for a password and I only know the one I normally use…….I just tried doing the right click on the desktop icon and it gave me the “Run as Administrator” option so I got it working that way. I was puzzled about where it puts the shortcuts for TDS as there was nothing appearing on the desktop or program menu and I was having to move a shortcut to the desktop during the setup to access the application. I suppose it was putting shortcuts in the admin. user menus rather than the normal user.
I preferred the old fashioned versions of Windows when everyone had access to everything. :rolls:August 21, 2009 at 9:39 am #295138iadom

I don’t like Vista, don’t have it on my desktop or laptop. Using the wifes laptop it is so slow and bloated compared to XP.
Heard generally good reports of the latest MS OS though. 8)

Vista runs sweet with 4 gig of memory.

Sorry, its still slower than XP. My wifes PC is a high spec laptop with loads of memory, I find it painfully slow to boot and it nags you every time you want to do anything,Vista is just too bloated IMHO. 😀

I was loading the latest version of MSN Messenger the other day on the Sony Vaio Vista laptop and it happened to show how much hard disc is used. The 250GB drive is more than half full already and I’ve not used it much 😯 The desktop was only 40GB and that was also only about half full. I’m therefore guessing that Vista itself needs about 100GB :rolls:
