ParticipantMy wife turned the oven on today and the power to the downstairs tripped. When she reset the power and tried the oven it didn’t heat up. The grill works fine and I replaced the oven element after a similar incident just over a year ago. Do I need to buy a replacement oven element or is there a reset button or something? If I need to replace the element could someone tell me why this has happened twice in just over a year. I thought oven elements had a life of between 5 and 7 years!

Thanks litlor
Do I need to buy a new element? If so I might consider replacing the built in oven & hob as £40 for an element is a little pricey.

£40 ?? Where did that price come from, more like half that.
Can you find the rating plate please and post the full model number (it will have GB in it).
Probably something like SOF60GB????

Hi Dave
The full model number is SOF60G (TFA40-31Y).
If I need a new element can you let me know the cheapest place to get one from and what I should do to prevent this from happening again.
Thanks for your help

I have an Arrow (Teba) P/N F09001GB53 made for B&Q.
The same problem as above occured and I replaced the element; however, there is now no indication of power to the unit (trips checked etc.).
I’m not sure if this is a common occurance, but I don’t want to fork out +300 pounds for another.
I would appreciate any help.July 16, 2005 at 12:10 pm #139317Dave_Conway

Check the fuse at the spur/switch the cooker is connected to if you haven’t already done so 😉
Quite often these built in ovens are just either plugged in or connected to 13A fused spurs.
Isolate the power 1st please :zap:
Dave.
