This is an integrated Bosch machine, model no. SE6 TIE 1GB/17, nearly 7 years old, used about 3 times/week.

A year ago Penguin advised on how to resolve a flooded base and continuously running drain pump. I drained the machine about 3 more times in the intervening period and a continuously running drain pump happened again a 4th time (according to the missus). However no water came out on tipping back on the last occasion. 😕

Reinstating the machine the problem is now that it fills with water but does not progress through the program. No water actually enters the washing chamber. When I reset the machine the water drains out successfully, pump running. 😮

Looking through past threads, I assume the two problems are related and there has been a gradual build up of gunk culminating in a total blockage in the transfer hose ? ❓ And I have to remove the left hand side panel to investigate further ?

Hoepfully I can draw on your expert advice again.

It must be putting water in the wash tank if its able to drain it out 😀
At the beginning of a cycle, its should drain first, fill then after should start to wash.
Do you hear the wash pump NOT the drain pump?

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/2 fills but does not progress thru progra

I’m confident it is the drain pump as I can hear water going through the waste hose/sink drain. Also when I first put the m/c back in place, the waste hose was kinked and water backed up in the bottom of the dishwasher. The hose kink was fixed.

I have attempted to start a program on several occasions. I can hear water entering the machine, but no washing actually starts. After a while waiting, I have opened the door and reset the dishwasher. On closing the door, the machine drains. It is several weeks since I last tried this (too many other things to do before Xmas!), so it could be that it drains first when I try a new program , before filling again and my memory is playing tricks. 😳 Too many sherries over Xmas ❗

Any programme starts with a drain sequence, followed by fill. After approximately one minute, circulation should start. If you pop the door after three or four minutes, you should get wet……..

If you don’t, shut the door and listen carefully. If you can hear a faint “humming” noise, there is power going to the re-circulation pump, but it isn’t running. It may be jammed or the start/run capacitor may have failed.

Ok, have done some more careful listening and run each of the 3 programmes for about 30-40 minutes before resetting. The Normal and Intensive programmes go through the following sequence
    1. drain
    2. fill – gurgling noises for ~1 minute, clunky valve shut
    3. 10 minutes silence
    4. a ‘normal’ washing sound for about a minute (circulation pump ?)
    5. filling sound for a minute, valve shut.
    6. shortly after, a ‘heavy’ humming sound for a few minutes
    7. detergent compartment opens, a minute later
    8. A couple of mins. later, gurgling noise, similar to water filling sound, but in lower part of m/c. very short duration ~20 seconds. Valve shut.
    9. A minute later, a heavy click sound.
    10. ~3 mins. later, faint humming sound, very brief.
    11. Silence, until programme reset.

The Eco programme is very similar but it doesn’t have steps 3, 4&5.
Water in the washing chamber – a low level in the bottom of the chamber, in the area of the sump. Evidence of condensation on the back and left wall, upto 2/3rds height, with a band of droplets on back wall about 3 inches from bottom. Lower right wall is warm. No water on spray arms, cutlery tray or racks.

Does this confirm a circulation pump problem ❓ If so, where do I locate the pump to see if it is jammed ❓

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/2 fills but does not progress thru progra

    Another long note. 😆
I checked the suction and discharge of the re-circulation pump from the sump and found no blockages which would jam the impeller (power off all the time of course). I would have to take the washing chamber off the base to do any more investigation on the pump itself (disconnect it from the sump chamber) 😡 . Is there an easier way:?:

When I ran another programme the re-circulation pump motor radiated heat, but no pump action. Is the 2″ long, 1/2″ diameter, horizontal cylinder in front of the motor the start/run capacitor ❓ This was also hot and the terminals appear to be in good condition. Any more diagnostics I can do on the capacitor to confirm whether it is working ok ❓ If this is the capacitor ❗

Any good tips for effective cleaning of the top left corner of the matrix, around the valve ? it is pretty well gunged up with what looks like detergent powder and/or scale. :rolls:

    Thanks for your help. 🙂

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/2 fills but does not progress thru progra

Good (‘cos you didn’t answer the question first time…..). The cylinder is the start/run capacitor for the circulation pump. The fact that the motor turns easily means that it isn’t blocked, the fact that it gets hot means that it’s getting power. The capacitor delivers the boot up the back side to make it start; if it doesn’t get it, it won’t go.

You need a 5uf capacitor. Ask Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and he’ll get one out to you promptly.

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/2 fills but does not progress thru progra

Hi. Received the capacitor today and installed it but no change in performance 🙁 . Still humming and no pump action.

Checked the pump again, power off, and no blockage in the suction side. However now I am not so confident that I am able to turn the impeller. I thought I was able to turn the impeller cone (with effort), but I can’t see any part of the motor turning simultaneously and maybe my finger was just slipping ❓ I can’t seem to turn the impeller blades with my finger or using the back of a tea spoon (slipping again). Access is obviously very restricted.

Help ❗ What next ? Does the motor need replacing ?

Power off, motor off, disassemble and remove foreign object and re-assemble 😉

Thanks for the direction, Greg. 🙂

Is it possible to remove the motor from the side of the machine or do you have to take the whole tub off the base to get at the pump assembly ?

From the side but you will have to remove the lid and sides prior and also loosen the base so you can open it for access 😀

Motor and pump removed. No foreign object in the pump. However the motor is heavily scaled up on both sides of the forward plate.

It isn’t possible to turn the impeller/motor shaft. Is the motor seized ?
    New motor required ❓

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/2 fills but does not progress thru progra

New motor it is then 😀
IIRC it comes in seperate parts ie – motor, housing, impeller and seals.
Parts available from shop@ link on the left 😉
