Can anyone offer some advice on a problem I am having with my Teka TKI300 built in fridge? It’s a model no. L54315EB and worked perfectly for a period measuring years …. but now, it just won’t get cold enough. I’ve been through the sticky’s and tried to diagnose what might have failed, but I haven’t found a diagnosis that matches my symptoms….
Basically the fridge stays around 8-9°C no matter where you adjust the temperature dial.
The readout on the LCD screen says 2, which I assume is 2° and everything appears to be working correctly – I can hear the compressor kicking in and out as it has always done, the back wall of the fridge will bead with ice over time, then melt off into the drain and it’s doing everything it has always done… just not cold enough! I have been monitoring it for a few months with a 24hr recording min and max thermometer and it is holding the temperature within the fridge steady within 1-2°, but at an ambient 8-10°, not 2-4°. I initially noticed the problem in the height of the summer and assumed it couldn’t cope in the hot weather (transferring all food stuffs to our backup drinks fridge) but it has remained consistent whatever the temperature in the house, so clearly something is wrong.
My assumption is that the thermistor has failed, but I’d expect a bigger range of fluctuation in the maintained temperature if it had…. does anyone have an y thoughts? I really want to repair the fridge as, being built in, it’s a fairly major upheaval to replace….
