£70 to install a Range Cooker aint’ bad is it?

I got called to install one just before Chrisy. The guy had bought it from “?” and they would not install it! and neither did I. When I worked out the diversified allowance for amperage his cable from the consumer unit wasn’t heavy enough 😳

You got to get this re-wired from the consumer unit I informed him, and as I am not Part P registered (although qualified) you will have to get a electrician who is. Mind you it would be interesting to know how Tesco’s installer would have handled it, I don’t think £70 would cover the final bill :rolls:

I had a cup of coffee with the guy and did not charge him, Merry Christmas

I would imagine that the £70 would be to install to original wiring etc. Hopefully they have that clause in there or it could prove to be an expensive lesson for them 🙂

    Gas Cooker:

Tesco wrote:The qualified installer can disconnect your old appliance and connect the new one to a suitable existing gas point providing the point conforms to current CORGI regulations.

    Electric Cooker:

So they will only install to an existing supply.
