To be honest I never entertained Stocklink for the very reason it was charged (I can’t recall how much now, if Wayne would oblige ?) when there were other and (in my opinion) better software solutions out there.
To some extent the benefits of Stocklink and Connections were eroded over the years as manufacturers put their own disks together then took the stance of prohibiting their wholesalers from reproducing the diagrams.
Whether Stocklink was still allowed to do so I’m unsure, this is obviously a pretty much obsolete conversation now as Stocklink is no more but as there are talks afoot of Identiffier being upgraded (?) is there a tangeable benefit in negotiations with the manufacturers to allow duplication of the expoded diagrams ? Specifically the main three, Merloni Partfinder, Electrolux TDS and Whirlpool SIOS ……
Even if it was charged for, I for one would be happy to pay £x, if you add those three up with the six monthly upgrades it amounts to a tidy sum PA and it would be unique 😀

What happens about parts out of stock on the Parts Center site? Are parts out of stock gone and lost forever from an order or do you operate a ‘backorders system?’

Yes we do, if you want this info you can ring the office and they will be happy to print them off and send you a copy. They cannot fax it as it doesnt come out very clear. I know this is not acceptable and this is one of many issues that I will be putting forward at the meetin on the 27th. I think it would be helpful to all of us!!
Earlier answer about stocklink £35 a month. I expect us in the not to distant future to be speaking to the manufacturers about putting their identiffier on our web as only account holders can veiw it.
Any other problems with the web let me know before next Wednesday 26th, so I can take this forward(not all at once as it would be to large even for my broadband!!!).Wayne

KeymasterWayne,
Can you get an account opened for NWAR (http://www.nwar.co.uk) as I don’t have one? I think I did a long time ago but it’s likely defunct.

Having met Wayne today I was most impressed with his ideas for changes to the website in particular and for ideas regarding delivery/collection of spares at local plumb centers etc….I look forward to the result of that meeting on Wednesday.
A good rep seems hard to find these days….so more power to your elbow Wayne 😉
…..ohhhh…and he did have some excellent tips for navigating the website too, yes it is awkward but the answers are all there if you know how to look for them! I’m sure he’ll forgive me for suggesting you contact him on this site for help navigating it (more business Wayne 😉 )….or perhaps he would be kind enough to put a few words of the like spoken today here on the forum?
Wayne? 😆October 20, 2005 at 11:16 pm #149809kwatt
KeymasterRe: That Partscenter website!!
Wayne, if you guys want to write up an article to help the repairers navigate the website I’ll gladly publish it for you?
Adn if anyone wants a visit from a Wsh-Vac/Parts Centre rep please either PM Wayne directly or mail admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and we’ll pass it on for you.

Well blow me down, 2 parts that were out of stock from my order 2 weeks ago, actually arrived today unannounced 😀
So my conclusion from this is that Parts Center (like Masterpart and others) will eventually send whatever parts that were out of stock from your original order, as and when they become available 🙂
Now that is even better and a credit in this case to Parts Center because Wash Vac always ‘held back’ backorders until you ‘re-ordered’ 🙁 A policy that always pi**ed me off anyway, especially as I don’t order often enough and always hoped that parts would be sent me whenever they became available.
So, it seems that a ‘back order system’ is indeed in place, as Wayne said, it’s just that I cannot see any reference to this on their site as to what is going on?
Customer friendly?…Not by a long shot! And there’s so very much they need to address before they can hope to claw back lost custom 🙁
OK so I figured out that the backorder system works. How about my next gripe…’Stock Holding’…..why the hell do I have to put in my Postcode to be told that the local Parts Centre tin hut is out of stock? My local rep ( who has since vanished for some reason?) advised me to type in the postcode box “DL10” and that gives the current stockholding at their main depot….brilliant, it works too, but as I order from the main depot in the first place, can’t they tell me that?

Martin,
To check the stock on the parts centre instead of you post code or DL10 put in “melmerby” and click on the bottom line which is “Melmerby, Ripon, North Yorkshire” this will give you the stock at the ‘feeder’.
Only problem as I understand it is this is not updated live so can’t be guaranteed.

I see i’m not the only one having problems with the new Partcenter web site.
Did you all know you can now order spares at your local Plumb Center?
Electrue were out of stock of some things so i went into my local Plumb Center with part numbers in hand at 4.30pm on Wednesday. Went back at 10.30am Friday and there they were.
The best thing was, no carrage charge and the price of the spares was less than the web site.
