Indeed so, in fact there is little point trying to establish what each of us pay for certain spare parts other than an interest factor being established. Wholesalers work purely on a supply and demand basis and for the most part do a great job in keeping up to speed on the shift in that ever changing marketplace.
What you really must realise now though is the greater part UKW has made in uniting everyone to the many options available when it comes simply buying spare parts these days.
For example, few of you would have heard of the many other independent suppliers we have to choose from these days. Often the BIG BOYS have the major shareholding of the trade, and many only ever know of them as their source of supply. But there are so many others companies out there as well that compete so very well if not better than they do, just waiting to prove their worth to you!
Many of the smaller suppliers are easily accessible and willing to give great discounts even for small orders. They are all listed under Trade Spares suppliers:-
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ink&cid=34…and it is hoped many more will step forward to make themselves known? (Maybe even a company called DATA (??) who are listed on the Forums page but not in the Trade listings will show us all what they sell 😕 )

All very true Martin, except I still think there are at least 3 tiers of prices before individual spares get discounted.
I suppose a good way to find a pattern would be to make a list of obsure parts that people won’t buy alot.
And the power of UKW can only get stronger and stronger! It’s just a shame the ‘bulk purchases’ thread seems under-used.

Electrue used to give a settlement discount some years back but AFAIK scrapped it. It did cause a bit of a nightmare to admin it for us at the time as the discount was not subject to vat so the vat never seemed to reconcile and quickbooks at the time just couldnt cope with it.

So I suppose you’ve all been sat there thinking “What’s the Penguin getting?”. Well, there’s no point in typing it out as it is identical to PatUK’s prices – I am not alone. Given that all the suggested parts are exactly identical in price, I suppose we have a confirmation of sorts of the layering price policy.
To be fair to Connect, I did use them for a short while after I opened the account, until the price differentials became more apparent. I have no problem with a large user gaining a price advantage over a small one. I’m on Trade 2 with TMS (our local wholesaler) – a few get an extra 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off on Trade 1 – BUT – it’s all clear and above board.
My real problem with Connect came to a head with a dishwasher motor. I could buy it three different ways on Connect, from a staggering £180 odd, down to £94. A conversation with a UKW member revealed that he could buy the motor for £60.
I find it quite re-assuring that should I need another motor for a Servis integrated dishwasher (the only one in 12 years to date), the system might remember and offer me a multi use discount on it. 12 years from now perhaps?
Anyway – a level playing field perhaps Connect? Clear bandings? I don’t mind being a level 2 customer – maybe a level 3, after all I haven’t got all that much to spend. Just so long as I know where I stand.
Oh, and some communication. When I query a price somebody answer – please? You lot are worse that my old lot Comet, and that really is going some. Let’s face it, this debate has been bubbling under on UKW for the last few months and I don’t find it funny that another member should ask me to post up my Connect price in the full knowledge that it’ll be laiughed at.
What infuriates me is that Connect’s site is very easy to use, informative, decent search facility, all sorts of plus features compared with others, and yet there is still no basic incentive for me to buy from it.
Do something, Connect. Please.
Regards,
Chris,

Presumably the offers leaflets are the same for everyone? The July “Update” has things like Hotpoint HPT1603006 buy 5+ @ £5.75 each, Hoover carbons HVR97916670 buy 5+ @ £5.50 / pair and E’lux spider DST50239964005 buy 2+ @ £15.99 each.

Oi Bazza! Stop p-p-p-p-picking on the penguin!
Nobody is laughing at you penguin. We all knew you had rubbish prices anyway.
Alex said if connect made the playing field level, it would go up rather than down. I disagree. Even with wash-vac in apparent turmoil, electrue couldn’t get away with price increases, even if they had a monopoly. Because of places like this, they wouldn’t get away with it.
Like Martin says, we all have our little local (and national) companies that can always help us out. In the north me + penguin have TMS, and in the south you have…. :con: Anyhoo, if people want to put on the ‘braveheart’ war-paint and try and get rid of the different tiers, my one man army is ready to help.
ps. Good news for all you lucky Scots! TMS (registered charity) are moving back into Scotland in a big way. There’s even a rep.

Sorry penguin 😳
But on a serious note I think your in the same situation with connect that I am with Homespares. The rep keeps telling me to buy stuff and they`ll increase my discount and I keep telling him to increase my discount and I`ll start buying stuff. Catch 22 or what???
I think you should ask to see the rep explain how much you buy in spares a month and then show him what a small percentage his company are getting of that. Connect obviously have a huge margin to work with and although I`m sure they won`t put you on the best prices straight away I`d bet they would put you on better ones than your currently getting.
If you`ve already tried this then I`ll just shut up and won`t ask you for any prices ever agian.

I had a chat with a Connections rep today about prices etc.. and Guess WHAT ????
I had no discounts applied to my account, he said it was because my account had been allocated to the wrong area and I had no rep but said he would sort it out today and the discounts would be applied today too.
If you were in similar prices to me as shown above, then it might be worth you having a little moan, you might get a bit of a better deal.
