grrrr and e e e eee is a sure sign they have a faulty sprinkleractor sprocket in the valve box at fault, and you can fix it with a 19mm adjustable ring spanner. :joker:

Can’t be as bad as fitting a fridge door inner liner in the house next door to the one I should have done. 😳

Nope, that takes some beating for sure. I’m just trying to figure how someone would let you into their house unannounced open the fridge door and rip out the liner?

Err. Maybe not.
Let me set the scene….
Wimpey development with over 200 homes on it, all with the same Candy washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven, hob and hood. And, as they’re new builds they often don’t have house numbers or, Wimpey reported it and just gave you the plot number which, naturally, isn’t the same as the street number!
Guess how often an engineer would rock up to the (wrong) door, “here for the washing machine” (etc) only to find they’d got the wrong house.
The crazy thing is, people let them in even when there was nothing busted. People are mad.

A long story from the old Hotpoint days and office raised SSD’s (special spares docs)
I called to the cottage in Hadfield, Derbyshire ( yes Royston Vasey no less ) to attend a fridge with a tiny crack in the door liner which was under g/tee. The house was in a terraced row of several identical, stone fronted properties.
I asked the girls in the office to raise an SSD for this part, the SSD form came in three parts, one of which was stuck to the part which was delivered to our own garage at the time. Unfortunately the girl in the office had written the wrong address on the SSD number 16 instead of 18.
The part was out of stock and didn’t arrive until six weeks later when the job was booked out.
I went along to number 16, knocked on the door but got no answer however the next door neighbour at number 14 opened her door and said she had a key. I went in and there in the kitchen was the same model of fridge and as it was six weeks later it seemed to be in more or less the same place. I set to work changing the door liner but all the while I couldn’t see the crack that the liner was supposed to have which did puzzle me somewhat. I left the job and later that afternoon had the office on the radio saying the customer had rung to ask why I hadn’t arrived after she had been contacted by phone to book the call for the morning.Turned out that not only did the office put the wrong number on the SSD but the two neighbours had identical fridges in the exact same spot in their kitchen. 😳 😀

Easily done. In these rural parts many people don’t lock their front doors when they are in. On one occasion, after rushing outside to the van to fetch something, I remember accidentally going back into the house next door. It all looked vaguely familiar, if strangely cluttered, until I noticed a 90-odd year old fellow quietly sitting by the fire in his chair watching the TV. Realising my mistake, I retreated quickly after blurting out “Sorry, wrong house!” With hindsight, I am not sure that was the most tactful response, and I hope it didn’t cause him too much of a shock.

How many have taken the faulty part out, put it on the floor next to them, got distracted and refitted the faulty part, only realising when you tested the machine and it was still faulty . 😳 🙁
