The Radio .. I had to explain what a pager was to our youngest engineer and his girlfriend at our Christmas meal ,he has only ever known sat nav and a mobile.

Those radios where rubbish, well they where down here. Pager was always going off, then had to drive miles to find a phone box to call office.

Ha, I’ll bet you haven’t even seen the radios we had, about the size of six house bricks, all valves inside. The later small black one they introduced did work really well in this area.

We had the small black ones but gave up with it
