Well if nothing else, Martin has been very quiet and restrained in the past few days. 8)

    All I said was:

“Good evening Adam. We’re all waiting…….

    Penguin45.”

Seems pretty innocuous to me. :snig:

He buzzed off, so I deleted it.

    Nice. 😆

I did have to give one of our Irish members a gentle nudge earlier, Conor was actually using your Avatar 😯

Jackal wrote:So can someone explain how this bumping thing works as I havent a clue.

It’s about keeping a thread current. As I type this, this particular thread has fallen off the XML (The scrolling list of the 20 most recent threads on the front page.). So, given that at 00.26 am there are only likely to be three of four posts before morning and we know that Martin is likely to on-line at 7.30 am, now is an opportune moment to post an up-date to this particular thread, thus ensuring that the title “The Martin Conumdrum” is scrolling before his eyes when he logs on.

The other reason people do it is when they fail to solicit an answer to a particular enquiry. Posting “Bump” in their thread takes it back to the top of the forum and makes it more likely to be read by other users and may convey a sense of urgency.

    HTH,
    Chris.

One thing I did notice when Martin was online today, at the bottom of the main forum page where it lists who is actually online at that precise moment, his name is still highlighted in moderator green

Jim’ll be after me in the morning for editing one of his posts……. I’ve waited 3 weeks for this! :snig:

    Re: The Martin conumdrum.

“Hoist by ones own petard” 😳 It was late for me and I had consumed a few glasses of Pinot Grigio, a Hungarian one to boot.

I have always been a two finger typist and in the past 12 to 18 months I seem to be getting my fingers and thus letters out of sequence. What is more disconcerting is that on the odd occasion I do it whilst I am writing as well. 😥

It could be the first signs of the early onset of something or other or just trying to do things whilst your mind is preoccupied with another task.

    What had I typed ❓ 🙂

Can’t find it now……. 🙁 Have you “un-edited” it? It was only mildly gibberish!

Nope, haven’t touched it at all, you do realise though that this means WAR 😈 😉 😆 8)

At least you did own up to editing my post, unlike some other wimp who seems reluctant to fess up. 😀

    It was THIS post.

    Jim.
